Dear Parents and Guardians of Mid-Del Students,

It is a requirement under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) federal law to inform you when a school district enters into or continues in District Improvement. No action is required on your part. Mid-Del Schools earned an overall Academic Performance Index (API) score of 1178, a 64 point gain over last year's API score. The district scored 1207 in Mathematics and 1202 in Reading, both above the Oklahoma Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) targets of 1074 in Math and 1060 in Reading, but the district is in need of improvement because we did not achieve AYP targets in Reading for the Special Education and African-American sub-groups in spite of gains of 15 and 31 points in those two sub-groups.

Mid-Del Schools has identified strategies to improve student achievement in its District Improvement Plan. This plan outlines what the school district will do to help all children meet challenging academic achievement standards. The Oklahoma State Department of Education is providing technical assistance to improve instruction and learning in Oklahoma schools. In addition, the Mid-Del district is providing professional development on research-based instructional strategies that have proven to be successful to improve student achievement.

If you have questions or would like to offer suggestions, please contact Dr. Pam Twidwell, at phone number 405-737-4461, ext. 1233, or you may email ptwidwell@mid-del.net. Mid-Del Schools will continue to establish high expectations and programs of support for all learners in our school system. Thank you for your support as we work to provide the education your students need to be college, career, and citizen-ready!

Respectfully,

Dr. Pam Twidwell

When the young people of Mid-Del enter our schools, they will be safe.

When they enter our classrooms, they will be challenged.

When they leave our schools, they will be ready.
