The Air Force JROTC is one of the programs at Midwest City High School that brings pride to our school. This program promotes discipline and service as it develops stronger citizens for tomorrow. Wearing the blue Air Force uniform, students in JROTC can be seen representing our school and our nation proudly. The Honor Guard practices on Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00 preparing to present our colors and honor our flag at many of the ties here at MCHS. They're practicing hard by putting their efforts, time, and hearts into their preparation. Air Force Junior ROTC is a program designed to make HS students better citizens and is not a recruiting instrument for the military. Topics of classroom learning range in subject from military drill & ceremony, rank, alcohol/drug abuse, civic duties to leadership & followership skills. Each instructor focuses on self discipline and learning to accept responsibility for the students' behavior. Cadets have an opportunity to serve in corps leadership positions and serving on the Honor Guard. Cadets routinely gather in the JROTC classroom during lunch for fun and fellowship. It provides a "safe haven" for the cadets. Benefits for completing JROTC courses include advanced military rank should they enter the service after HS and college course credit from Univ of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
