![]() Mathematics Math classes should be about much more than a series of formulas procedures that students should memorize. In Mid-Del, we work to keep our students from getting lost in the tangle of unconnected algorithms. We begin with teaching conceptual understanding, building upon prior knowledge in a context that students can relate to, before we move to learning and practicing procedural knowledge.
We view math globally from K-12, instead of thirteen different installments of separate lessons. We encourage discovery-learning through tactile activities and the use of manipulatives. Deep understanding of the mathematical concepts at each grade level will give students the tools they need to be successful in any college, career, or citizenship path they follow, and they will also make high scores on the state tests they will take in grades 3-8, and algebra and geometry.
