World Languages

There is more than one way to think and look at the world. The process of learning a world language fosters a tolerance for and appreciation of other cultures as well as for the learner's own language and culture. The primary goal of world language instruction is to introduce students to a language and culture different from their own through experiences in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language. While developing a proficiency in a world language, students build language analysis and listening skills that are critical to achieve maximum potential in any communicative environment.

Students in grade four begin a sequential study of Spanish that continues through grade eight. In grades nine through twelve, courses are offered in Spanish, German, and French throughout the Mid-Del district.
