What is Early Birds? 

Early Birds is a program that gives hands-on help to parents of children ages birth to 5. The intent is to help parents learn how and what they can teach their infants, toddlers and young children at home. Early Birds classes cover areas such as social and emotional development, reading with the children and math activities, all in in order to help children be prepared for kindergarten and a lifetime of learning beyond.

There are free books, toys and classes for Mid-Del parents who take part in Early Birds classes. Free childcare for children up to 10 years of age is provided during the Early Birds sessions, too.

What can I expect from an Early Birds Class:

• 90 minutes of instruction led by a trained professional covering topics like child development, everyday learning opportunities, activities that promote school readiness, purposeful parenting techniques, and health and safety.

• Discussion with other parents about the successes and challenges of being their child's first teacher

• Free toys and materials that foster school readiness at home

• Free notebook with more helpful resources, tips, and support to help your child learn and grow

• Free On-site child care so you can fully participate in the classes

• Best of all, when you complete each Early Birds class, you will know how to play so your child will learn and develop skills that will give him future success in school and life!

How and Where Do I sign up?

You can sign up by calling our office and pre-registering.  You must register for each class.  Our office number is 582-7020 and our office hours are 7:30-3:30 M-F.

Classes are held 3 times a year, once in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.  All classes are at Del City High School, 1900 S. Sunnylane, Del City, OK.

2012-2013 school year dates:

Fall Oct. 11 at 6pm and 13 at 10am

Fall Satellite Classes Oct. 16th at 6:00pm.

  This class is located at Highland Park Elementary.

Winter Jan. 24 at 6pm and 26 at 10am

Spring April 25 at 6pm and 27 at 10am

Attending an age level 3-4 or 4-5 class? Participate in the Early Birds study & receive a Walmar gift card!

Just Bring your child with you & arrive 30 minutes early to sign up before your Early Bird Class.

Your child will be given a school readiness screener & you will complete two rating scales.  You will then receive your $15 Walmart gift card.
