11-Team Varsity Scrimmage at Norman North High School Girls need to report to the school parking lot by 7 AM. They should have their jerseys, kneepads, and black socks. Bring a sweatshirt/sweatpants in case the gym is cold. The parents are making snack bags Tuesday evening. If your daughter would like to bring additional snacks for herself, she needs to bring healthy ones. Please limit your caffeine Tuesday evening, and try to stick with gatorade and water on Wednesday. 2012-2013 VOLLEYBALL TEAMS
Please remember that coaches have the right to make changes to their teams. Throughout the season, players may get the opportunity to move up if the coaches feel it is the right decision. If you made the team you had hoped to make, please remember that there are players working hard to move up, so do not get complacent. For those of you wanting to move up, work harder than everyone else in the gym, and you may get your shot. Now is the time to dig deeper and work harder than you have all summer!

1. Both teams must be at the gym by 5:30 to set up the court and get warmed up. 2. Your team must come up with an original name and “uniform.” 3. Team C/Team D will officiate Match 1, and Team A/Team B will officiate Match 2 4. Everyone must attend both matches. 5. Invite everyone you know! 1st Annual Team Building Activity TEAM A – Jade, Briana, Laila, Audia Team B – Kaubriana, Kylie, Brandi, Corey, Kaleigh Team C – Jelly, Jaliyah, Jessica, Brooklyn, Hayida Team D – Kamille, Ashli, Morgan, Natalie Team E – Kourtney, Parker, Kiosha, Samayia Team F – Stephanie, Holly, Quiara, Chinna Team G – Paige, Carly, Asia, Kristen Team H – Keilah, Katie, Leah, Keyonna OBJECTIVE: Find a song (3-4 minutes long) that is appropriate for school. You all must present a lip sync performance. This includes lip syncing, dancing, acting, etc. PUT ON A PERFORMANCE. Come up with costumes, hair, and make up ideas for your performance. Everyone must participate. You cannot tell anyone your song except the coaches. We will make sure that no one is performing the same song. You must coordinate a time to practice your performances; however, all performances will take place on Wednesday, August 8th at 6:30 PM. Location will be the cafeteria. Secret Pals OBJECTIVE: Draw a name from someone on the team. This person will be your secret pal for the entire season. You will find a way to “secretly” exchange small gifts (without each other knowing) on the dates listed below. All gifts are no more that $5-$10, and they can be bought or made. BE CREATIVE! We will do a big reveal on the night of our banquet. This will be the day that you all bring your last gift for your secret pal, and it cannot be more than $20. Always include an encouraging note or quote with your gifts. DO NOT REVEAL TO ANYONE WHO YOUR SECRET PAL IS!!! Dates: 1st Day of School (August 17th): This gift can be given to them a week prior to the start of school. It needs to be something that everyone should have on the first day of school. BE CREATIVE! 1st Home Game: This can be something that will offer them good luck or represents good fortune to you. Spirit Week: Pick something to go with the spirit of the week. Last Home Game: Something that represents the season to your pal and/or you. Banquet Night: Pick something special for your secret pal. No guidelines. |
GROUP PRACTICES We have decided not to announce teams on Saturday, July 14, 2012. We have been pleasantly surprised with the intensity and work ethic of these girls, and we feel they deserve more time to continue to improve before we announce which team they have made. Granted, if you are a freshman, you have automatically made the freshmen team. If you are a sophomore or junior, you have automatically made the JV team. If you are a senior, you have automatically made varsity; however, now you are practicing to earn playing time on varsity. Freshmen are fighting to make a JV or varsity team, and sophomores/juniors are working to make the varsity team.
Group Practices will begin Monday, July 16, 2012. Group 1 will be from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM and Group 2 will be from 6 PM to 9 PM. You may be asked to switch groups or attend some of another group’s time. We will also start incorporating setters’ practice, hitters’ practice, and DS practice before or after group times. We will let those girls know individually.
Please remember that this is a competitive 6A sport, and we must put together the best possible teams to contend with state and national champions. If you have any concerns, feel free to contact Coach Manley; however, the groups will stay as is unless the coaches decide otherwise.
I have made adjustments to the schedule on our website. Please take a look and make those adjustments in your own calendar. What shirt to wear each day is also on the schedule.

PRACTICE BEGINS MONDAY! TAKE A LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE BELOW. MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR KNEEPADS, PUT YOUR HAIR AND BANGS IN A PONYTAIL, AND REMOVE ALL JEWELRY BEFORE PRACTICE. CELL PHONES MUST STAY IN YOUR BAG THE ENTIRE PRACTICE. YOU DO NOT PLAY ON THEM DURING PRACTICE HOURS. PRACTICE RULES AND GUIDELINES WILL BE PASSED OUT ON MONDAY BEFORE PRACTICE BEGINS.
